Well I finally got the wifey to agree to let me invest some money into my 93. I told her it was time to either invest in fixing the truck right or to sell it and get a new truck. Since it's cheaper to fix up a paid off truck she reluctantly agreed.

The old girl is at the paint shop right now. Going back with solid burgundy instead of the 2-tone burgundy and tan like it was. After I get her home I'm going to paint the wheels flat black and install some chrome center caps, new body side moulding, and a set of mud flaps on all 4 corners. Gotta find me a new grille for her too. The last thing I'll do is get a new in-bed tool box and put a roll-on bed liner.

Then it's on to the interior. Will be getting the windows tinted and a complete stereo system upgrade (head unit, speakers, and sub.) If I can find a set of factory bucket seats then I'm going to swap the seats too. Regardless I'm going to build a full bench seat for the back so that the youngin' will have a place to ride as well.

Will post pics of the new paint job when I get back from vacation next week.

I was told by the body shop that Pep Boys here in Baton Rouge is the only local place to get it and it's supposed to be about $20 for a box. I'm going to go by there today to verify. Also, JC Whitney has body moulding online however it is more expensive.

Went to Pep Boys and they did have some suitable moulding items. While not a direct match for the factory moulding they did have some decent stuff. They had a large box of the Silverado-style trim for $50. However the trim I bought was $30 for 16' and it was 2" wide with black in the center and a chrome strip on the top and bottom. I think it will look fine once I get it installed.

I also began my experiment with painting the wheels today. I went to Wal-Mart and bought 7 cans of Rustoleum rust-eliminating flat black paint. This will be my base coat. I painted my spare wheel and it looks a lot better. Once the paint dries a bit I will come back with a finish coat of Rustoleum Hammered black paint. I think this will give it a slight sheen with a textured apprearence. Hope it turns out well. I think this will work nicely with the solid burgundy paint I'm getting. So far it's taking about 2/3 to 3/4 of a can to do both sides of a wheel. I'm thinking my total refinish cost will be about $8 per wheel plus the chrome caps if I can find them.

Oh, does anyone know a good source for some chrome center caps for the dual wheel trucks? I'm looking for a chrome cap to cover the ceter section of the wheel around the lug nuts on the front and rear wheels. Any help would be appreciated.

One other question...has anyone sprayed their bed with the rubberized undercotating that comes in spray cans? I'm seriously considering this as an alternative to Herculiner or a full-on (expensive) Line-X type liner.

I got my body molding from the body shop that painted my truck.
We went through some books until we found the one I wanted; I think it was a Chevy style.

The guy who installs the body molding and trim has all of the special cutters to cut the angles to make it look right but I am sure you could a sharp utility knife.

Summit Racing sells those pieces separately if you don't want to run full simulators.
