no to the duramax! just buy a newer truck, whatever it be...ford, chevy, dodge...rip out the motor and all the junk wiring and drop an old 12 valve in it!!!

my mom hated me buying my 92, but i told her i bought it at 16 and will own it till i lay 6' under!

personally i was a chevy guy but fell in love with the cummins and it came with a dodge lol. i was gonna drop a 12 valve into a 87' chevy pickup but bought my rig instead!

I'd like to have a destroked super duty powered by a 12V. Best motor and I love the looks of the truck. Not as much as my 92 W250 but that isn't an option in this scenario is it? If it is, I'll just take another 1st gen!

BTW allison is the only choice, the zf was omitted because of low demand.
Dodge dealers making plenty of money off my dad too

I love the look of the GMC's and the LBZ is just a mean engine, ive never heard any major issues with them. just the LB7's.

i knew you were a smart guy... my other truck is my dream truck. i was going to put a cummins in it but i built the stock engine with CHI heads and a roller cam and some other junk. I couldnt lose the cummins bug so i had to get a first gen, they look fairly similar and i had a crush on my first gen since the first time i seen it.

How about getting a Frieghtliner FL70 with four wheel drive and a utility bed powered by a 6bta hooked up to an Alision. Power companies across the country use them.

Love the older body style fords...the 78 79 is my very favorite bodystyle, followed by the first gen lightnings (93-95) and then the ~68 chevy.

IMO Chevy doesn't really make good trucks. I've been in construction for a long time, and driven a lot of contractor trucks, and all the worst running, most prone to breaking have been by GMC. Great creature comfort, and they've always made great engines, but their trucks...meh.

Here's my photobucket... the ones titled "truck", "truck 2" and "CHI Headed 400" have pictures of my truck and engine. i love the cummins but not much sounds better than a 10:1 compression, 410ci, roller cammed Ford with long tubes and 3" exhaust... ill post my video of it too but the idle sounds a little weird.

I don't have any good pictures right now. I am in the process of painting the truck. I guess if you wanted to see pictures of the rust repair I am doing on the bed I could get you some of those but it don't really show much. Here is a picture of the engine compartment that will have to do for now. It was taken a few months after I got the truck running. I had pulled the hood off to clean up the wiring.
