1st gen flex plate vs. 2nd gen

i know the second gen is stronger but is there a noticeable difference in appearance?

I can not tell the difference between the one i pulled from my truck and the 2nd gen one i got for my 47rh swap. Perhaps someone already put a 2nd gen flex plate in mine?

There must be a difference because all the application listings are from 94-07... Same flex plate...

i am thinking that mine was replaced with 2nd gen when the previous owner did the rebuild. I took the dial caliper out and even measured the thickness of various parts on the flex plates.

I was told a second gen one wouldn't work on a first gen.. That was from the guys at BD, they said it was close... Unsure, I pulled a good SFI rated one off mine and installed the 2nd gen one and never looked back..

So no one has seen a 1st gen and a second gen flexplate sitting right next to each other?

I compared the two of mine when I took the 1st gen out and it seemed like there was more metal and it was thicker. If you would like I could take pic of my first gen with my phone and send it to you, just let me know.

Yes. I replaced mine. They look just the same with the 2nd gen being just a tad thicker. I don't have specs.
