could be a different name for the same thing?
The box I had was an old NAPA product that had Body putty printed on the end of it. The box was about a foot long and had layers of dark grey rope calk like material laid out side by side length wise.

I thought about using plumber's putty too. It sounds pretty similar. It is the consistency of play-doh and "sets" but never really hardens. Dunno what it will do to the paint tho.

I would not use plumbers putty because it dries out and gets brittle with age, I have had this happen in about 1 years time.
But I would either check Duct Seal, we use it electrical to seal around conduits and to weatherproof fixtures to the wall, it always remains flexible at most temperatures and does not seem to bleed.
Or Permagum, both are similar, I use this for HVAC.
You can get it at supply houses including Home Depot, it looks like a brick of C-4

I'll look for some this weekend. Duct Seal, not C-4.

I got the trans tunnel cover put on. I used Duct Seal (Thanks Jim!) between the tunnel and cover. Seems like it will work pretty well. I had to order new shifter sticks for the twin stick because the originals were in my cousin's car when he wrecked. They are wedged between the seat track and transmission tunnel. I would have to cut them out of the car.
I'd probably have more $ tied up in gas and sawzall blades than it cost to get new sticks sent.

You are doing a great job on the truck, can't wait to see the end result!
Really like the twin stick on the t-case, I have plans to use them as well on my crew cab as I want to relocate my shifter into a center console I will be building and the twin sticks will make that part of it that much easier. I plan to use cables from the shifters to the t-case so I can have plenty of length to position the twin sticks.

My cousin Andy is alive and recovering very well. There is a pretty good possibility that the twin stick shifters saved his life because they wedged between the trans hump and rocker panel in his car and kept the rocker from coming in farther. I have no problem paying $40 for new sticks!
This is his car.

Got my new shift sticks back from being powder coated and they look great! A friend of my cousin did them (and wouldn't take any $ for it....grrrrr). I got them installed with my snazzy new billet shift ***** the other night. I even put the shift boot on them. I'll post a pic soon.

Yeah he's doing pretty well. He had a broken collar bone and pelvis and traumatic brain injury. He's recovering from all 3 very well. There is a lot more info about the whole thing on the DTR Prayer Request thread. We're all just very thankful that he is alive and returning to his old self.
