I assume you meant to say M1A which is the semi-auto version of the M14 which is what I trained with in the army. A bit heavier than the M16 platform but it needs it for the .308-7.62 NATO round. I have it scoped at 100 yds and it's good out to 600 if I need to reach out and touch some...thing. The nice thing about it is I get detachable mags without the bullet button. It has a muzzle brake instead of the flash hider and no bayonet lug. I got the synthetic stock.

yeah i missed the A. I am an awful typist. That works as you don't have any "evil" features.

I have to have the stupid azz Bullet button where this Ar can have a detachable magazine. both are identical inside.
Once I move the bullet button is history. and my 10-30 magazines get converted to 30 rounds.

P.S. i built the AR the same way I do my truck one piece at a time

 

Ho yeah there is a shooting range near Tulsa that has 600and 1000 yard ranges.

 

Sadly that happened to tons of Canadians including myself during the previous Liberal/Communist gun registry.

My Dad had recently passed away and my Mom freaked out when they announced the Canadian gun registry.
She called the local police who came by immediately and picked up all my Dad's rifles.


If u guys think Kalifornia has or is planning ridiculous and useless gun laws, you have no idea about Kanada...

Pretty much anyplace outside of a city is a shooting range. Just don't shoot the livestock. They're kind of touchy about that.

The nice thing about KS is your Drivers License or ID card showing residence is your CC permit. Oklahoma, Missouri and Arkansas all reciprocate with KS. AFAIK Open carry is no problem.

That's a great point there, Jim. I know some of you, like myself, probably own tools and such from grandfathers. Everytime I put one of those tools in my hand, there's something about it, knowing that a piece of your own history used to use it. Probably as a means to put food on the table. That would have sucked if my mom would have given that stuff to Goodwill when he passed, but she asked me if I wanted it.
Back to the M1's, that's on my "bucket list". To one day own a garand. I've read of shooting groups that shoot those things out to a 1000 yards, open sights and all.

Exactly....I have a bunch of my Grandfathers old tools, and think of him every time I use them. My most prized set of tools is a vintage Craftsman 3/4" drive socket set, ratchet and extensions in a HD metal case, all big sockets from 1" to 2 3/4".......the set is probably from the 50-60's? I have stood on the ratchet and jumped up and down to try and break stuff loose....it just laughed at me and said..."is that the best you could do!"....

 

Well, considering you are the size of a silver backed gorilla, I would think you have yourself a high quality ratchet.....

 

Actually, at the target, the TINK comes before the BANG because the bullets are supersonic. I've heard that the bullets make a crack sound as they pass by due to the sonic boom effect.
