1990 d250 front brake rotor HELP
1990 d250 front brake rotor HELP
I am replacing the front rotors on my truck along with the pads (duh). After two different sets of rotors which were both wrong from Kragen and Smith Auto I am feeling a little confused. The rotors looked fine, BUT the hub area where the spindle comes through was to small for the bearing race and dust cover. So I measured it (the area where the bearing rides the spindle) with my calipers and gave the reading (.997) to the parts store and they told me I had second gen spindles!? They said 1st gens measured .750, yet the rotor on the truck has the 1/2 suds, as it should.
So basically I have to ask, what's the deal? Anyone else had this problem? I seriously doubt the old gentleman who owned the truck before me swapped spindles, or if it would even work. Anyone have a part number for the correct rotors? Brakes should not be this much of a hassle.....

Look at this maybe it will give you some info.http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php

This is what is too small for the factory bearing, and a new bearing and dust cover is not supllied, nor is it even mentioned as an option.
I would love to try rock auto, but if they sent the wrong set as well I would really be SOL. I need to make a 500+ mile trip in a week and commute to work come tuesday, this thing needs to have brakes!
Did you make sure to tell the parts guy it's for a 4,000lbs axle? I'm looking at rock auto now and the picture you posted is exactly what is shown under the 3,300lbs axle.

Stillsmokin, i replaced the rotors on my 91.5 last fall. You def. need the ones for the 4k front axel. Remeber, the replacements may not come with the hub/bearing assemebly. Mine did not. They are seperable, you need to knock the studs out and the rotor will pop off the hub.
did a quick cross check for you.wagner BD61915 is for the rotor only.that was crossed with rockauto and advanced auto parts.came up the same.do you need just the rotor,or rotor and hub?they come apart.
