1989 F-250 2wd good for anything?

I just hauled in a 1989 F-250 2wd, with a d60 rear end. Is there anything I could salvage off this terd for future use on my own truck?

Drivetrain-wise, I don't think there's anything on that truck as stout as what you already have. The axle(s) may be good e-bay items, however. Offroaders dig the '60's. Probably worth more going to scrap with less trouble.

The rear axle should be a Sterling 10.25, not a Dana. Stopped using Dana axles on the 3/4 ton trucks in '86 or so. My '86 has the Sterling.

What makes up the rest of the powertrain? 351, 460, 7.3? Auto or stick?

thats a sterling 10.25 rear. I too am curious about the rest of it as well. Id like to know mainly if its a 5 speed, with a 7.3. I could use some of those parts from ya.

Throw it away, scrap price around here is $7.00 a hundred pounds for iron or $195 a ton for cars. Nothing on that Ford is worth putting on your Dodge.

well, no engine, and c-6 tranny. The rest of the truck is toast. Are the 10.25 Sterlings any stronger build wise than the d60/d70? (im not sure which I have, not a Dana man

Not really sure on beefy-ness but we used to tear those things up right and left in the Fords my company used to own, and they were coupled to a ZF and an IDI 7.3.

I have owned several Ferds. They make a real tacky flower planter in the front yard. They are also good back stops at appliance shoots. You can even fill the cab and bed with concrete and use them for test pull wieghts. Glad to be of help.

The rear axle seems to be fine. The C6 is pretty decent, for having no O/D.

Yeah, I hope that you at least took the time to pull out the axle and the C6. Even if you can't use them, somebody could. Its too late now, but it may have made a good trailer (if the box was in good shape). In fact, I think that most of the 1980-96 Fords make great trailers. Nothin' ahead of the bed is worth messing with!
