If it's from a manual tranny truck then it's a 12. Auto 24v's had the hy-9.

^^^^ what he said. 2nd gen 24 valves were 12cm^2 in all sticks. The 9cm was in the autos in some of 2001 and all of 2002 I'm pretty sure. I got a 9cm Hy35w for my Mercedes 300D build up for quick spool with the half sized, but double revving engine.

I have an hx35 no WG 18.5 cm off like a 94 i think and were gonna put it on our 5 speed 3:54 truck.would this be a good improvement being smaller and having a WG?? Also its non I/c now but we have an old banks technicooler goin on when it gets back from paint. so it will have a improvement intercooler.

that housing on craigslist is a HX35W and it was found on manual trucks.I dont ever remember holset making a non wastgated hx35. The 18.5 housing you have is prolly off of a H1C which they most all will interchange. If your wanting a quick spool then i would go with the 12cm.

Stay away from 12cm wastegated housing from 24valve engines, they don't have the wastegate actuator on the exhaust housing, they moved it to mount on the compressor housing. They also have a different backplate with the elbow built in, no V band clamp. Its fine if you swap the whole turbo and don't plan on upgrading it.

HY-35's where only on 2001-2002 auto trucks. 98.5-2000 had HX-35's regardless of transmission.

All you need to do is remove the elbow and replace it with the v-band clamp. They bolt right up. I replaced my WH1C with a HX35/12cm from a '02, no problems.

I know that. Don't expect to take the 12cm exhaust housing off one and put it on a H1C, you'll be standing there scratching your head wondering where to put the wastegate actuator.

True... that's a small PITA I'm dealing with for the Benz's Hy35 aswell. If you need to clock the turbo like I did, then your gonna have to configure something different.

94 would have a WH1C, but the ex. housing is the same.

So I've also picked up the 24 valve 12cm exhaust housing with the actuator mounted on the compressor side. I got a good deal....maybe too good

1) Where does one buy the v-clamp to bolt up to the 4" DP?

2) Does anyone have any photo's of how they mounted the actuator? I could just wire it shut and try it...

Thanks.
