10-30w oil in the cummins?
I use 15x40 AMSOIL in my 96 2500,also plug in block heater when it goes below 20f. I only use syn oil in all my cars,trucks,m/c,lawn equipment.
They run cooler in the summer, start with less drag in winter. With extended change interval saves lots of $$.

Stacked- if you run a diesel rated oil, 10w30 will be just fine.
Put a mechanical gauge on your engine to check it. There is a second 1/8NPT outlet at the top of your oil filter adaptor. Hook it up, and fire the engine up. 80spi at cold idle isnt unheard of- last 3 I've had were in that range. As the oil heats up and thins, it will drop. 40 psi running/ 25psi idle is still quite acceptable for the oil pressure, provided that is hot/ warmed up. The book calls for something ridiculous like 10-15psi hot idle pressure. You shold be fine at 225K+. If it'll make you feel better, you can replace the pump, but I wouldnt worry about it too much.

Personally,
I run Chevron Delo- look up their website on the 15W40. Good stuff, Isosythetic with low parrafin. You get alot of synthetic attributes in a diesel rated oil without the huge cost. Avaliable at Wallyworld. Oh, chevron actually REFINES their oil unlike so many of theses bottled brands.
These trucks weren't designed around the latest 2007 oil spec. I think you'll find your manual states CH-4 or better oil.

Actually, it's CD or CE (with the corresponding "S" level- I think SG), depending on which year you have.
That is why I dont see all the fuss over engine oil. They were designed to run on plain old oil SEVERAL categories back, and they are proven to go a million miles or more doing so. There is some debate over whether the CJ4 is as good for the old engines as the new CJ4, but either one will do better than the stuff that came out in 1991. Put the expensive oil in an engine that wont go a million miles and needs all the help it can get, like a gasser.
