1 ton chebby wheel cylinders vs rear disc.
So I have the brackets for the rear disc conversion, but am now heavily in debt because the axle and the well needs time to refill. Would it be worth doing the Chebby bomb now, or just wait, or is the 1 ton wheel cylinder trick just as good or better than the rear disc conversion????
I am running the one ton cylinders on one of my trucks and the disc conversion on the other. I used the great lake off road brackets and chevy calipers (losing the parking brake) If you go this route it is CHEAPER to convert to disc than it is to keep the drums (if you have to replace the drums). I say, use the drums until you can't get them turned anymore, then switch.
Last weekend I did the rear drums with 3" pads and 1 ton cylinders (check my photos gallery for pics), but when they eventually go south I will sure be happy to put some discs on. I say stick with the drums for now and get everything you need to convert to hydroboost and rear discs, that is what I am planning to do.
