$3.40 per/gal I turned her back down

The reason there is truth to Bearkiller's comment above is probably due to acceleration. There is some level of acceleration that gives best overall efficiency. You don't want to run WOT up to cruising speed, but you don't want to go too leisurely either. More power used to accelerate moderately will yield better overall mileage.

I turned my fuel screw back down and I have seen an increase in mileage "so far". I did two short tests just to see if it was going to make a difference. The first was a 30 mi trip with the fuel screw in 1 1/4 turns and the second 30 mi trip with the fuel screw backed out 2 1/2. The first 30 miles took 2.201 gal to fill the tank and the second 30 mi took 1.26 gal giving me 13.6 mpg on the first run and 23.2 in on the second.????? I have noticed a little less performance but oh well. I know that these tests aren’t very valid because of the short driving distances but non-the-less it gives me a good idea on a somewhat improvement. Just trying to pass some info
It's making me seriously think twice about putting a 4bt in my Dakota.

I don't think your test is accurate unless you can verify the fillup procedure was identical. Too small a sample. Just having the truck tilted a couple degrees to one side on a non-level filling station lot could account for a gallon or more diference.

Never mattered with any of my first gens how much power they made. Whatever mileage they got bone stock remained the same after the mods were done.
Not one bit.
The only way mileage went up was by cruising slower down the highway.
Did that once....................... didn't like it.

I paid $4.00/gallon in Truckee over thanksgiving... Worst part about that is that it was to put in my 07 while towing an 18,000lb trailer, and I had just pulled from Sac up to the summit at like 8-10mpg cause of the 7000k foot gain.
