Mystery Switch Light

Ok guys, how do i wire a light inot my mystery switch????? No matter how i try it, it either screws up the switch, and locks up the tc without warning, or the light is on when the tc is unlocked, and when i throw the switch, it goes off. :thud:

I remember seeing a thread by somebody who had warning lights for everything, mystery switch, grid heaters, and lots of other things. Think it might have been on DTR, but for the life of me i can't find the thread. Can someone either tell me how to make the light work, or send me a link to that thread if they know it??>?

Thanks!!!

Corey

You need to get a lighted switch that has a regular bulb in it. Some of the lighted switches come with LEDs, which won't work because you're grounding the ACC for the mystery switch. I know this particular switch from Radio Shack has a regular bulb in it, so it'll work:

They normally have it in the store.

BTW, you'd hook it up in reverse. So ground would be pos, acc would go to B11, and (+) would be ground.

HOWEVER, I thought about it, and I'm not sure if you can use a lighted switch without getting more involved with a relay. Cause when the switch is off, you would be sending a pos. signal to the B11 wire, which I don't know is ok or not. This is how I hooked it up with a relay:

Relay

85: Ground
86: connected to ACC terminal in back of switch
30: Ground
87: B11 terminal in engine bay

If you use a relay then you'd hook up the switch normally. Pos. to pos. and ground to ground.

I use two LEDS. My yellow LED will turn on whenever the PCM or I manually give the signal. My red LED will turn on when I throw the L/U switch, reminding me "Red is bad, turn me off before you come to a stop"!

You can see my LEDs in this pic right above my shifter.

Thanks. I got from a TDR member more than a couple years ago and it's been flawless ever since. I wouldn't run a L/U switch without the LEDs letting me know when I'm manually locked. It's easy to forget sometimes, even with the bright red light staring right at you. Don't ask me how I know.

I actually got it figured out, but thanks for the replies.

All i had to do was send constant 12v to one side of the light, and run a lead from the ground wire coming off of the switch!

pretty simple, now that i know how to do it hehe

Thanks guys
