Yet another fuel line question...

It would only figure, I'm getting my ducks in a row to put the 370's in my truck, and wouldn't you know, my truck develops the "rough to start when under 1/2 tank" symptom. I'm also having the "erratic fuel gauge" symptom too. So I figured, before I throw the 370's in there, I'm going to get this fuel system figured out. I know I can go to the dealer and grab part # 4797738 for just the sending unit for the gauge. I can also hit up Foster Truck for the fuel line replacement at the pump (and get some starter contacts while I'm at it).
My questions are:
1) Since the pick up line in the tank is apparently cracked, am I going to need the entire $300 sending unit?

2) Is the cracked pickup line in the tank plastic, or is just diesel fuel line?

3) Can Foster truck sell me enough diesel rated fuel line to go from the pump to the tank or should I source that somewhere else? (I know I know, call them! )

As always, TIA for the advice!!!

MIke

When I had my tank down to repair the fuel sender, I noticed the lines down to the bottom of the tank were just a stiff black plastic tubing. No idea what theyre made from but you could probably get some other plastic tubing of the same diameter and replace it.

covering it

I had the same problem in a 74 Triumph Spitfire and my father sugessted sliding a piece of gass hose over the pickup tube and clamping it at both ends. Its been that way for two years now.
