Wrong overflow valve?

Just received my new overflow valve from E-Bay. I opened the package and noticed a big difference from my old one. The new one has a ball pressed into the top where the retaining nut was in the old one. Is this a revision to the original valve? I've seen other valves on other stores sites and they have the retaining nut on top.
Attachment 28139This is the new one.

just a different style. them seem to work as they should, just no retaining nut holding the spring and such in there.

Looks like it could easily leak . I liked the retaining nut better.

How so?

Thats the standard style on the VP trucks. Never had a leak on mine.

The new style without the nut has been around for at least ten years.
My bet is the only way you can get the old style is if it's been sitting on a shelf for that long.

I've seen the one with the retaining nut on TST Products, Pure Diesel Power, Peak Diesel Performance, PDR Diesel, etc. I was mainly worried I bought the wrong valve. I plan on installing it as soon as I find new sealing washers since I don't want to chance using the old ones. I would have thought that it would have come with new seals. Does anyone know the Cummins part number for the seals?
