Who has rewired in a voltage regulator on thier charging system?

My truck has been down for about 5 days now- and I need to get it moving- the altenator is puting out, but no charging at the battery, and I understand that some folks here have wired in an older style voltage regulator- anyone have details on this?

I am immobile right now, and my mopar is my only form of transportation for my family!

I've done this to three trucks, works great.
Just disconnect the two small wires to the alternator and tape to keep them from shorting. Two wires from the new regulator are interchangeable. Top regulator terminal must go to a switched positive.

Right on dude- thanks so much!

Am I asking too much if you have an underhood pic of this set up?

Also that looks like the generic mopar voltage regulator, any help on what years and off what so I can source it locally please?

I would like to get one at Napa if I can!

Be sure that the voltage regulator is actually the problem. If the alternator is putting out, be sure that the fusible link in the charge wire isn't burnt open.

I checked the 140amp fuse in the underhood fuse box, if that is what you mean? I have been through these wires, and haven't found a fusible link you are talking about, if it is different?

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
If you alt is putting out then the PCM and voltage regulator is working. Take it to a starter altenator shop and get it fixed and be done with it. Surely there is a shop that qualifies even in Anchorage.

I wasn't sure if you were referring to the 93 or the 98 truck in your sig. The 93 has a fusible link, the 98 has a 140A fuse.

At any rate, with the key "off", check for power at the big charge terminal on the back of the alternator. If the charge circuit is complete to the battery as it should be, you will have power there.

Okay- I did it- it didn't work.

The fuse looks fine in the power distribution block, and we have triple checked everything dammit!

Sorry, no pics but it's very simple. Main consideration is picking up a good ground.
Any 12 volt regulator will work, old style relay type or solid state. In fact I've heard the number of the one in my picture (not really mine) above isn't good.

Here's where I got the picture and more instructions https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...n&onlynewfaq=1
