when convertor locks up
when convertor locks up
The guy that built my trans set up my convertor to only lock up at 30 percent throttle or less. This is a real pain when pulling a trailer as sometimes it seems you have to let way out of the throttle to get it to lock. Is this setting controlled by the tps or is it a computer setting that can be changed? It is a single disk billet convertor but I do take it easy on my trans when pulling a trailer. I really don't want to put a toggle switch on it as I have heard it can be hard on trans without line pressure being up when locking under a load. The convertor also doesn't lock up until about 55 mph during normal driving. This seems to build alot of heat as the temps climb right on up when convertor is unlocked. Will these trans. stand shifting with the convertor locked up from drive to od.
It would be best to ask this of the trans guy who built it. But, in general, this trans was not designed to shift locked. A lot of guys do damage it doing this daily. I put a lock-up switch on my truck when it was stock, then later did the mods and NEVER use it any more. Don't need it.
Go ask him to reprogram it .
