wheel bearing issues solved. Thought I'd share.
wheel bearing issues solved. Thought I'd share.
Some of you have read my posts about the ongoing wheel bearing failure's I've had in my Ram. As of today it's a total count of:
5 wheel bearing
1 brake caliper
1 brake line
I started thinking about what's been done and the only thing not replaced has been the knuckle and stub axle. I've never seen a knuckle fail so figured I'd get a stub axle and see what happens. The first bearing that failed was melted. I mean the steel roller bearing had built up enough heat to melt. When I pulled everything apart this morning in the balmy -5 temps I couldn't believe the difference between the existing stub and the new one. I've attached pics of both and figured I'd post this for others when their bearings fail so they know what the stub should look like and know if they need to replace it or not. Through Drivetrain Industries here in Denver the stub was $90 and $20 to ship it.
