What's TOO hot for coolant temps?
What's TOO hot for coolant temps?
Thank's in advance for any responses that can hepl me out. I searched for an answer but couldn't find anything definitive.
I have moved to San Antonio, TX, and when I lived in North Dakota I replaced the factory t-stat with the NAPA zero bypass. Up there I never had a problem. On the drive from Amarillo to San Antonio I was towing a 8' x 10' U-Haul trailer with a total weight of about 2000lbs. The stock temp guage was hovering between the 9 and the 0 of the 190. That was in 90-95 Degree temps with the A/C on. If there was a hill the needle would climb to the middle of the 0.
It started to scare me a little because this was highway. When I got into the city it stayed in the 0. I've only owned the truck in ND and I still have the original t-stat.
Is that TOO HOT? I can change it back if it is I just need to know if I'm going to cause damage if I continue to run the truck at that temp.
Again Thanks.

I have pegged my needle twice while towing heavy. Gauge all the way up, light on, chime beeping.
I stopped immediately and let the truck idle til it cooled. I have never seen a problem with it from those occasions. But I try not to make a habit of running it hot either.
