what pump does a 97 auto have?
The pump is depowered from the manual version a little bit but at least it has the larger delivery valves that the older 12V autos don't have. Some 370hp injectors should more than offset the smaller pump size.

The internal parts difference cause the depowering.
Do you know what would the 180's limit is? I was under the impression it is more than almost anyone non-commercial here would make, say for instance 800+rwhp.

Helix, plungers, cam--stuff like that. You can take a little pump and get FLOW out of it, but it won't ever flow like a 215.
I just swapped out my 160 for a 215 and they are light years different. Top to bottom--in the middle, all-the-way different. Same plate (slid way BACK), same inj/turbo/timing/DV's. UNREAL different.
Junkyard special.

As Wade said there are a few significant internal parts differences in the 215 that are not shared with any other pump. It is unique when comparing it to the other three pumps that were offered on our Dodges.

Without some extensive tweaking (read: you are better off to buy a 215 or a performance pump) I think enough fuel for 800HP would be next to impossible to get out of a 180 pump.

I paid $500 for my junkyard special. Runs perfect.
Reman/exchange is around 1300.
Specialty shop hot rod is closer to 3000.
Way back when, Joe D made 533 with a 215. The only thing done to the pump was in the governor section. Plate/springs/timing. NO DV's or twiddling up front.

Hmmm... I know the newer 180s have DVs that are closer but I just can't imagine it being the exact same. He must have meant the same body for the P-7100 is used but not the same internals!?
