What mph does your 97' 12valve auto shift out of first

WCBCRUZER,

When you shift manually, you allow the pump in the trans to create higher pressure thru higher engine RPM. I believe that is a good thing. Higher pressure holds the clutches with more force and helps prevent them from slipping during shifts.

One of the hi performance mods to an auto is to increase internal pressure to help prevent clutch slippage during shifts.
I have a Suncoast v/b that increases pressure and well as an updated seal within the trans to hold higher pressure without leaking.

One more point, with higher pressure, the T/C clutch is capable of higher input torque without slipping when locked.

Makes sense Ronco. But would it be ok in the long run to constantly manually shift like that? Sounds like it's being hard on parts.
