Want it LOUD

How can i make my 97 12v louder? I have straight pipe no cat and no muffler. I have heard some 12 valvers that were way louder than mine. What can i do???

if you havent pulled the silencer ring out of your stock turbo that will help. higher timing changes the sound also.

How hard is it to take the silencer ring out and how do i do it?

take off the black tube from your filter to your turbo, right on the inside lip there is a large snap ring basically, can remove with a screw driver or a hook. once that is out, pull out the silencer ring, it will basically fall out. last step, put it all back together and enjoy the sweet whisper of turbo.

Just be careful if you decide to put it back in. Know one of the engineers that worked with cummins/holset. Guess if you dont seat the snap ring in there your turbo wont like you. You wont see any hp/temp changes but it does make it sing. I have an AFE intake and it sorta sounds like an airplane taking off.

Guess the guy who owned the truck before me had already taken it out. i just went and checked and it wasnt in there. So any other suggestions?

LMAO, Change the turbo, run 5" exhaust with some bigger injectors and a big P-7100 pump...

Big Red are you sure its out because when its out that whistle is loud my girlfriend can hear me comin to pick her up from at the street (she lives at the dead end) and thats just rollin at about 30

his silencer ring is out he says... His problem is the 3 1/2" pipe.. you need to go 5" straight pipe. and itll be loud

if your truck still has the stock downpipe and exhaust before the stacks its 3" pipe, thats what mine is atleast. Gonna go to a 5" when i get the funds

x2 on the 5". I got 5" straight pipe and had my girlfriend drive down the road and git on it and it sounds just like the semis that go down the road.
