Voltage Gauge
Voltage Gauge
Hey you guys are great, have another question for you. When I start up my truck, or just idling at a stop light or just sitting there, the voltage meter goes down a little and then back up to normal. Just wondering if this could be my alternator? I could use some help here.
Have a 97 auto, #100 plate, 4" exhaust, and k&n intake, have egt gauge, and working on getting the kdp tabbed, and boost gauge.
Thanks

but after driving a while, they should shut off...
The grid heaters cycle on and off when the intake air temp drops below a certain temp....the cooler the climate you live in, the more frequently you will experience this.
Shovelhead posted a sticky that explains the grid heater cycling well.

What year did they start using grid heaters? They weren't on the 12vers were they? The sig says '97 model. They didn't have 24 valves back then, did they? I think I'm having a brain fart. I'm blank. It has been a long day.
Thanks for the info, however i read shovelheads post and mine happens at about 65-70 mph, he said that it should stop around 25. I had my alternator tested today and they say that it is not working right, so I should replace it. So I guess I will start there. Thanks for all the Help

I'm still a pup here at DTR! I think that question just slipped me back a bit!
