Yes it did. I put a #8 plate in mine and it smoked like a forestt fire until put in the afc spring kit.More fuel = more smoke.

 

You can tune the smoke out of most plates with a little elbow grease and time with setting up the AFC. There is a limit to how much smoke you can control with a stock turbocharger.
