a friends 97 stock trany will shift 1 to 2 fine but does not shift to 3 rd without moving shift lever to N then back to drive then it shifts into 3 rd ?

no slipping when in gear !

just replaced the solinoid pack and gov pres sensor !

recent new tps .

none of these items seem to help ?

any ideas ??

Aren't the solenoids for OD and TQ lockup?, I hope you guys did the general fluid/filter change and band adj. I don't have my service manual inside, I'l get it in a few hours and check the troubleshooting for 2'nd to 3'rd shift and post it up for you.

 

yes new fluid ,filter and no codes ?

 

Pressure testing with gauges will help, but I'm guessing the front cluch seals are leaking, delaying the shift. Very common in those years.

 

green95 jus a side note. don't forget ur 95 has a 47RH and the 97 has a 47RE they're the same but different LOLOL

All indications are the Gov.assembly or clogged filter,But you changed those. Book suggests looking at your linkage for binding or Adj.issues.... sometimes it's the simple stuff
