OK. i'm a little confused. I'm doing 50 KM/h 30 MPH, I turn the O/D off using the switch on the column shifter, and the engine revs increase by about 200 rpm. There is a noticeable change in the transmission as well. I thought that O/D was another gear above the standard gears. Can someone please educate me on this.

 

When you turn the light on in the OD the trans goes to 3rd gear there are 4 gears + the convertor lockup which is 1 to 1

 

theres no way the trucks in 4th doin that speed though. And as far as the converter, im friggin clueless about automatic transmission

 

At lite throttle the truck should go into 4th between 29 and 30 MPH and lockup at 41 MPH

 

wierd, Ive never seen the truck in its final gear till 70 KM/h. Anyone know where I can do some reading on how torque converters work?

Then you are not at lite throttle under full throttle it will shift to 4th gear at about 40 to 45 MPH and the converter will lock up at 55 to 60 MPH

 

Dont know how lighter I could have been, RPM's were only just over 1000. and I was just touching the pedal.

 

tuzlo do you have an auto or std trans as you said I am clueless about auto trans you were doing 70 kph at 1000 rpm, now thats a high set of gears

 

Auto, and I was doin 50 Km/h and it was just over 1000. Then when I turned the O/D off it jumped 200 RPM. And boy did I ever put this in the wrong forum, shoulda been in 3rd Gen.
