Trans upgrade
You can usually tell by driving them, even stock they feel better. My closest comparison would be like a big block you can feel the torque. The normal tranny has higher stall speeds, close to 2000 rpm gets you moving. Your shift points in a enchanted tranny are much closer together because the valve body is holding better line pressure.
Does it have a drain in the T/C, you can check by opening the inspection plate on the tranny.
My first suggestion would be just drive it, it'll be obvious if it's not then it's worn out.

an easy way to tell is the rpms. if your shifts are only dropping the motor 50-300rpm and wide open throttle, then it's a stock converter. (do NOT count that on a 24v when it shifts from first to second....check it on the 2-3 or 3-4 shift at WOT). an aftermarket converter will drop rpms about 500-800rpm depending on many variables...and that's shifting through all of the gears. obviously the stock converter feels real slushy and the aftermarket you can feel the torque pulling you along after every shift.
if you look at the tranny and it looks like Barney drives the thing, that's also a sign
