trans temp gauge

I'm getting a trans temp gauge and I have a stock transmission. I have a 1996 12 valve engine made in july I think. I have the stock transmission still in the truck. I was just wondering on where to put it.

There's really no easy way for a good reading.
The best place for the sender is in the hot line out to the coolers.
This is the hottest fluid in the system.
You can buy the tube for a '94-'95 that has a port in it
Dodge # CH05011244AA Tube, Out, W/temp port
I understand Napa has this tube for a good price.

Other way to do it is to cut the above tube and install a compression type tee for your sender.

what he said, i got the trans temp guage and went through the same questions. Im lazy and dont work my truck to much so its still not hooked up, but when i do ill just get a compression tee for it and do it that way.

good luck

hi
did mine with compresion fittings from a hydrulics shop and a black iron pipe t 3/8 in and out with 1/8 threads at the sender opening and it put the sensor directly in the fluid flow path .

I chose the pan, 1/8 inch npt half coupling weld it in pointing toward the back of the truck, added a drain plug 1/2 inch npt half coupling while I was at it, nice to drain now.

I chose the pan
Problem with the pan is it's the coldest fluid in the system. Even Dodge decided to use the hottest fluid for the idiot light.
People here who have changed from the pan to the hot line have seen differences of up to 100° from the hot line to the pan.
