trans/t-case mating surface leak

I have atf coming out of where the 47rh and 241dhd mating surfaces meet. I don't think it's fluid from the t case since I just changed it less than 100 miles ago it seems darker and smells like trans fluid gets. Is that something that can be separated and rtv put in there to stop it from leaking or is there a rear output seal on the trans that might be shot?

Yep. I took it apart today and put a new extension housing seal in the trans, and put black rtv between the two. After getting it all together it now does not leak anymore. Now for the dang timing cover I've been putting off.

That comment makes me think your t-case has something other than ATF in it.

Exactly. . . . the oil spec for the transfer case is ATF IIRC.
