Hi,
My truck is a 1996 2500 2wd with the obvious 12 valve cummins and 47RE
tranny.
It likes to upshift a little too soon. I can live with that,but the part I can't live with is when I slow down to make a turn onto a side road and then increase the pressure on the gas pedal to get going the truck doesn't downshift.
I have hit it to the floor a time or two and once in a great while it will drop down and go through the gears. Most of the time it just bogs it's way up the road at 2200 rpms.
This thing is ticking me off.
New today....both silver and gold governore solenoids,band adjust,new fluid,filter,kickdown cable adjusted all the way up,and lastly a new TPS.
I am REALLY getting to not like the fact I got rid of my 5 speed truck .
Can anyone help me here????

 

Has any good auto trans shop had a look at the valve body? Mine was doing the same thing some years ago, and I happened to be at ATS, where I had it originally built... it was 5:00 pm on Friday, but I mentioned it to Clint and one of his rebuilders took my truck out for a short test spin, even though it was quittin' time. He drove back in, drove it up on the lift, up it went... in a few short minutes they had drained the fluid, pulled the pan, pulled the valve body, replaced a broken spring, stuck it all back together, and had me on my way within about 25 minutes. It was amazing. Fixed the problem too.

I doubt you have the same tranny. You probably have the 727 TF
Not saying you could have the same problem with a spring.
I have not gotten mine fixed yet...tranny shop is still working with the warranty company.
