TPS re wire
TPS re wire
Im fixing to tear into this thing and was wondering do i take the wires out of the connector or just open the harness up all the way to the pcm or what? Is doing it this way orjust cutting and soldering new wire easier.
Either way but if you add new wires make sure to pick up the splices that tee into the original wires or you'll have a bunch of problems. It's not just a straight shot with two wires, there are splices inside of the loom.
Ok so there is splices in the orange also in the purple wire. form what ive read there was just splices in the ground and that the ground wire didnt matter so just leave it in the harness. But anyways i just open up the harness about 10 inches at a time then pull the wires out and then tape it back up. If there is splices in the orange and the purple wire do i just take part of the splice out then cut a slit in the new loom ?
You should not run into that much trouble. The splice that I remember is near the firewall near the fuel filter. As you peel the loom apart, you will come to the wires that branch down to the tranny. Just protect them with some electrical tape as they come out of the loom. The edge of the loom can cut into the insulation of the wire after awhile. I think there is another one just after you get to the passenger side of the engine.
You might find that your wires are crossed when you finally get to the PCM. I ended up having to cut, solder and heat shrink one of them. Also, when you rewrap with electrical tape, use a dab of crazy glue on the part of the electrical tape that always seems to unwrap after a couple of weeks. Kevin
