Question Timing advance.

I posted in the modifications but i may get a faster response here. I cant find TDC to advance my timing because my timing pin is sheared i think. It pushes in regardless of where the gear is at. And since i need to find absolute TDC how can i do this without the pin? Also where can i find the adapter for the gauge since i didnt get one in my snap on kit.

i found tdc by taking out my injector on the #1 cylinder, taking a hanger or other skinny object, slide it down until you touch the cylinder(do not push hard, as you will scratch the cylinder. have someone else rotate the engine until the hanger stops moving up, you are at tdc, put a mark on your dampener next to the yellow notch on the case. which kit did you get, i thought the snap on kit came with one?, mine did.

i got the sp500 kit, it came with a gear puller, gauge and delivery valve socket thats all. Is that just as accurate as using the pin?

i tested it against the timing pin, and there was minimal difference between the two, almost identical. my kit i got from snapon came with the adapter, the guage was already on the adapter, send me a pic of your set, maybe you think it is all part of the guage?

Rather than pulling the injector use the drop valve method to find TDC. Worked fine for timing mine.
