Throttle Bucking
Throttle Bucking
My Truck bucks under light excelleration, or in a "rough ground" situation. I know there was a bulletin in an earlier thread, but I can't find it or the part (05011726AA) that was mentioned. Does anyone have an idea where one can get this upgrade? The TSP bulletin was 18-29-97 Rev.A This condition is really annoying, and anyone who drives my truck really gets intimidated by this situation. HELP
Thanks, BJ

The upgrade costs over $100 and is nothing more than a couple of springs that you can pick up at a hardware store and a bracket you can do without.
If you look close it's likely that one one your throttle return springs has come off or broke.

Cost money ?? isn't that a recall ? I know on mine, it will be fixed free, as a recall, once I get plates on it so I can drive it to the dealer.
Have them check and see if that recall has been done on your truck. If it hasn't, they will do it free.
there is no mileage or owner limits on recalls.

A TSB is nothing more than a bulletin issued to dealers describing common problems and their fixes.

Heavier spring
I had the same problem. It was simple to fix by adding a little heavier spring on the throttle. I used a cut down screen door spring from the local hardware store, cost $1.99

I have found that most of the bucking was driver induced. By holding my foot tight against the floor hump I can dampen the oscillations and it smooths out.
Well, I know there is a recall on the throttle linkage, but it may not be the same symptom. There were two recalls not done on my truck when I got it...the throttle linkage and the hood latch. The dealer is gonna fix both of them free once I get plates on it so I can drive it there.
it's worth checking into at least.
