Thoughts on a front mounter BHAF

I just got my truck. As previously posted its a Cherry 97 12v auto 2500. I want to do a BHAF on it soon and was thinking instead of the U pipe getting some 4" intercooler tube and a 4" id Silicon 45deg connector and putting a Amsoil EA Cone in that space under the battery behind the lights. The air there is noticably cooler when i stick my hand there and could easily have an opening made to behind the bumper. Not to mention a FAR straighter air path .Only concern I can see myself is more h2o injestion running in traffic on wet roads. I figure though if i put a peice of stainless mesh or the like over the hole and a sock on the filter it should take care of it. What are yall's thoughts on the idea. Other upside is it would open up the air boxes realestate for other things like a compressor pump and a little tool box

Sounds cool. At least worth a try. Keep track of the parts you use. Also, post up some pictures.
