Im thinking about changing the fluid and filter in my transmission tomorrow. What else should I do while im in there and how hard is it to do.

get a transgo tfod-diesel vb kit and install it !

will make your trany live longer for sure !

i used the walmart +4 fluid and all is well!

 

I went with the transgo kit and love it but it took me 6 hours and I used rebuild trannies back in the early 90s constantly for my race truck. If you do it make sure you keep everything real clean. Don't foreget to add a drain plug to your pan. And use any of the synthetic oils instead of the standard ATF. I heard running synthetic oils in the gear boxes can improve mileage as much as 1.5 mpg, I'm not sure yet but I'm going to give it a try. I know all the big rigs swear by it. I take their word for it.

 

Set the bands while you're in there.

 

Im sure this is a dumb question. But im completely new to Autos how do you set the bands? Also were can i get a Trans go kit?
