Switch forces truck in OD but still no lock up

Ongoing transmission problem with my 95 CTD with auto transmission. Truck will not lock up. I now installed a mystery switch in the truck, and it will go into overdrive when I turn on the switch, but the converter will not lock up. Is it at all possible that the lock up solenoid is bad or am I looking at getting a new converter? Already bypassed the temp. switch with the resistor as well.

How long has it been since you serviced the trans with a full change of Type 7176 +4 fluid and a filter?

Only early '96 models needs the flash.
It's because they didn't change programing when they made the switch from the RH to RE.

Don't know for sure about the mystery switch wiring, but isn't there one wire to ground for the overdrive switch and then another wire to ground for the clutch lockup? Could you have done only one wire, or the incorrect one?

I believe I did it right, orange and black wire spliced in to a wire that has a switch and ground on the otherside. Just like TST instructions. I have been driving it like this for some time, just no OD or lockup. Hope it stays together long enough to put in a lock up solenoid or converter.

There are two or/blk wires.
Make sure you have the one that comes from the correct pin number in the instructions.

Is one OR/BK for OD and one OR/BK for TCC?

That's what it sounded like to me in the original post.

I'm not sure what the other og/blk does except it doesn't force lockup.

Problem solved, had it on the wrong wire, the wire I had controlled the OD. Truck locks now. I have to figure out why it does not do it on its own.

Either the TPS or the tranny temp sensor are the main reasons for no lockup.
