Stuck Wastegate
Stuck Wastegate
I am in the process of installing gauges. I took the turbo off to replace the gasket to the manifold and drill the pyro hole. While I had it off I noticed that the wastegate was rusted tight it is stuck in an open position. I guess I'll see what boost its making soon. My guess is its been like this for a long time ,how much would this have been affecting the performance? The rest of the turbo seems to still be in pretty good shape so is a stock exhaust housing replacement a practical fix?
It affects performance alot...makes for a laggy bottom end.
New wastegated housings are expensive for a stock HX35, if you're gonna buy new, then get a bigger housing like a 14cm.
Or the cheapest way, you can always find a good take off 12cm housing from the west, they don't rust up out here.
