strange lock up issue
My 97 3500 4x4 auto won't stay locked when the overdrive is off. It hold fine with the overdrive on. It just started doing this today.
I turn off od when I'm driving in town. It just makes driving easier. Today I was in lock up with od off and mashed the pedal to get in another lane when the lock up didn't hold. Engine just reved. It always holds. So I get out on the interstate with the od in and locked up and mash the pedal to the floor repeatedly and she stays locked up, no problem. I get back in town, push the od off, get locked up in 3rd, mash the pedal, tc unlocks and engine revs.
What gives? Any help would be great. I've been driving a manual for the last 5 years so this is unfamiliar territory for me.

your 1997 is a bit different than my 1995, but on mine if you dump the pedal fast when locked the computer will unlock the converter, but if you roll on slowly it should stay locked. Even when pulling a heavy 10K pound trailer up a steep hill as I pass 3/4 throttle in OD off mode locked in 3rd it will unlock with a huge clunk and rev up to the point the pump de-fuels.

That sounds reasonable but the thing is, it never did this before. I was always able to put it to the floor in lock up with the od off and it always held. It just started doing this. Maybe there was some 4th in wrong before and it fixed itself. Might just be operating normally now. I don't know.

I had to put another transmission in my 2001 Dodge ram,I have a problem now. When I crack the truck and put it in gear it went about 6feet and stopped. Now when I start the truck and put in gear it won't move it feels like it's locked up. What could be the problem
