My 2500 4X4 was delivered with 6.5"x16 wheels. What wider wheels were offered from the factory? I'd like to go to a 285/75/16 tire, but the 6.5" wide wheel won't work. Looking to keep a stock rim, even if another year truck. TIA, Seth
I believe the stock aluminum rims from arund 2001 are 16x8. I don't know exactly what years they came on I just know I have 2 rims that are identical to the ones on my buddies 01 that are 16x8. Hope that helps
I'm almost positive that if you want to run another 16" wheel, like the aluminum ones that came on some of the later model 2nd gens, you will have to machine down your rear drum brakes. I have the same exact steel wheels(16X6.5) on my 98 and run the BFG 285 75 16. So far they seem to be wearing OK. I am not willing to go through the trouble of machineing down my drums, so when these BFGs wear out, I will be going to a 17" wheel. Maybe something like an H2, only because they are cheap to come by. Hope this helps.

Im running a 285 on my stock 98 chrome wheels and they work fine (although, I would not go with any bigger of a tire).
