Still like the 12 valve more

After driving the 07 for a few months, I have to be honest.
I hopped in the old 12 valve to do some stuff, and I came to the conclusion that I like the old 12 valve more than my new truck.
More snap, more room for stuff in the cab, more noise.
Anyone wanna buy an 07?

It's not really fair to compare a modeed 12v to a stock anything...but, it's hard to beat the feeling of a 12v, regardless of tune

Don't feel bad............. I sold my 2004, I did not like the 3rd gen truck over the 2nd and really did not like the commonrail engine as much as a modded 12v.

I really enjoy my truck (other than the 4.10's). I look forward to driving it, and I don't have near the power most people have. If I get a built auto and 3.54's installed, I think i'll have this truck until the wheels fall off.

I would love to have that 07 but I dont have a place or money for it. I also agree with you on the 12V beeing a better truck. I daily drive mine. I only wish that the 6spd was in my truck instead of the wifes. Mine tends to get worked more.

Had an 03 auto and a 04 6spd. Now have two 98 12v's. I agree I like the 98's much better. The responsivness of the manual pumped 12 valve engine is superior in my book.

Its nice to see there are others who feel the same way.
I'm trying to sell the old GMC dump. If that happens, i'm gonna pull the sevice body off the 97 and put a new dump body on it.
I have rationalized with the wife and made a pretty convincing case for keeping the 12 valve.
1. newer truck than the GMC, it's an 82
2. 12 valve has all the creature comforts, power, a/c, cd changer.
3. won't have to buy a plow for the new truck
4. tows better than the 82 with the 350, 4 spd.
5. will be saving registration, insurance fees
She agrees with me on this so before she changes her mind, i'm trying to get rid of the 82!

I love the 12v too. Drove a new Duramax and even though they're supposed to be a real performer right from the factory, it still didn't appeal to me like my 12v. The deep sound I get from my truck is very hard to beat.

I couldn't agree with every one more - I love my 12-valve. I hope to keep it for as long as I can drive. My older brother has an 04.5 and it's a nice truck - the interior is certainly fancier - but I do like the sound, power and responsiveness of my truck. I'm even more partial to the looks of the 2nd Gen CTDs over the rest.

A 3rd gen with a 215p 12v would be somthin else. U'd have the best of both worlds, with the really nice ride of the 3rd gen and the in ur faceness of the 12v....if faceness is a word, lol.

I just love being able to work on this truck. I feel more confident working around it than my chevy 350 was, and thats a pretty simple motor.

Don't get me wrong, if I could have gotten a new 12valve in my '07 I would have, but I don't think it is fair to compare a modded 12valve to a stock 24valve '07. Also, comparing size of a regular cab to a ex. cab isnt too fair either... compare your cab room in the ex.cab to my quad or a mega and it would be another story... as far as the sound, well, i agree 12 valve wins hands down on that... I like oranges better than apples because they have more citrus flavor....
