starter acting up again

Last night my starter started acting up again. A few months ago I would turn the key to start the truck and it would just click. If I turned it a couple times it would finally start but when it did the starter would keep spinning. I probably made a mistake and bought a new starter from a parts store but I just couldn't afford the one from the dealer. Last night it started again. I do have a lifetime warranty on the starter so I am going to take it back and get a new one but my question is this. I have seen a couple things on the internet about a starter upgrade kit. I was wondering if anyone could give me some info on that and any other advice on my problem. Thanks in advance for any help.
Go to: Larry B's dodge cummins super starter.

Buy his kit, even though you have a lifetime guarantee, the kit is super heavy duty and worth the $50 bucks. You won't have to change starters again.

Re:starter acting up again

I was aware of the terminals burning and locking the starter up but is a clicking starter a symptom of bad terminals. What is Larry B,s address. Thanks RJ

I had the exact same symptoms that got slowly worse over time (although it never got so bad it wouldn't stop spinning). I replaced the contacts and it's 100% fixed.

Here's a good set of directions:
http://www.fostertruck.com/contacts_install.htm

The only things left out of the directions are grease and blood on your nuckles and that the starter takes a 10mm (I think) 12 point socket or box wrench. Mine were held on with a lot of torque, and used a big cheater bar on the end of my 10mm wrench.

I got my contacts from Larry (of fostertruck.com) and was very happy.

Tackett

yep, it's your starter contacts sure enough......you have a 95 truck, so your waaaaaaay overdue. Get them replaced...and when the job is done..get them to show you the old set of contacts. You'll be amazed that you've actually gone this long without getting stuck somewhere.
