Stalling
Stalling
i am looking at a truck that the owner said ever sence the reacall on the throttle cable sence he got it replaced when he starts it in the cold it stalls but once warm it runs fine is this a problem also it has an oil leak around the timing chain area what could this be and is this a problem the ac dosnt work i dont care though prolly needs a new compressor or somethign of the sort and the cruise dont work could this be a sign of future problems or is this just with the cruise thanks guys
No timing chain on a cummins---all gears in there. An oil leak in that area could point to KDP damage....best look real close at this one. Cold stalling is prolly just an idle that's set too low---especially if it showed up right after someone was fussing with it.
You might check that the overflow valve has been replaced:

Also check the fuel lines to see if they have been replaced. Its very possible that they have started to crack.
These are just two of the things that I remember seeing on this site that cause this type of problem.

my timing cover leaks too but thats because i used the old seal when i tabbed it and then started using synthetic oil. it all depends on how bad its leaking if its just oily around the bottom i would say its the seal. if theres a puddle underneath its the kdp

If the idle is 500 rpm when warm, it's too low. bump it up to about 750. The stalling and hard start when cold could be the low idle or the timing needs to be bumped up. The no A/C is probably the refridgerant is low or gone. Find the leak and fix it then recharge it. The cruise has electrical and vac. make sure the vac lines are good and the fuse is good, then check the switches and cable. Does your tach work?
