speedo gear

I just swapped my 4.10's for 3.54's and my speedo needs a different gear and I don't know which gear to get.Is the speedo gear the same for 2wd as 4x4 ? My buddys 2wd truck has 3.54's so mabye I could use his VIN to order the gear form the dealer ? Thanks for any input.

I'm not sure if the gear is the same because it's in the tranny on a 2wd and in the t-case on a 4wd.
Any good dealer parts guy can help you out, swapping gears is quite common when people switch tire sizes.
My dealer parts guy even had a chart that told which color gear to use according to what you need to correct.

Thanks,I found a link that has some good info.

http://www.high-impact.net/transmiss...peedoGears.htm

According to it the gear is the same if its located in the transmission or transfer case. With 31" tires and 3.54 gears it looks like I would need a 30 tooth gear (PN 52067630). Does this seem to add up?

Looks right to me.
Be forewarned of the sticker shock.
Chrysler must hold those funky plastic gears in high regard, last I checked they were $22.

$130 trade price from the dealer ! I found them online for $ 39 and it looks like they don't come any cheaper than that.

Ok so I have installed the 31T speedo gear and it reads very close to the GPS.Now when the truck slows down and I'm almost stopped It feels like the RABS is working. No abs codes but the only thing I can think of is that there is an issue with The different rear carrier (3.54 vs 4.10) as the ABS tone wheel is not in the same position. Are the axle housings different to keep the ABS sensor in the correct spot or should it work anyways ?

Thanks for any help.

Also The rear carrier that I put in was from a 99 if that is possibly the issue ?

Thanks for the offer.I have already tried a 30t and it was reading too fast on the speedo so I got the 31t and reads almost perfect.
