My speedo just decided to crap out. Everything else on the dash is working fine, just the speedo. I tried cruise on the way home and that worked, odometer is clicking off the miles too. I was removing some trees this morning and the rope broke and flung itself under the truck, is therre a wire under there somewhere i coulda taken out and killed the speedo?
Also after shutting off at the store to get a tougher rope, it would not start had to tighten the connections under the hood to get it to light. Is ther a wire there i coulda screwed up?
It is a 96 2500 4x4 stone stock.

 

I would almost bet that your speedo died, because the Odo still works.

That being said, there is a sensor on the rear axle and also one on the T-case I believe on your 96.

Check the center front top of the rear end and the side of the T-case.......
