Question Source for Throttle Cables?

Hello,

Does anyone know where they sell throttle cables for our trucks?
The dealer is back ordered and does not know when or if?

Thanks

Start calling the dealers around you working your way out.
Many people have run into the three month backorder and that's what worked for them.
Apparently the dealers don't communicate with each other on excess part stocks.
One guy said when he finally found a cable that the dealer said he had 16 of them.

Let me know if you cant find one! I have a brand new one in the box that you can use till you get another. I bought it because i needed the springs so i bought the recall kit. Thats another thing I could not find the springs cause of the back order but i found the recall kit easy. I can check with my local dealer and see if they have one and ship it to you! let me know!

Hi Eric,

So I have ordered one here in Kelowna but no idea as to when it will arrive. I did do some creative work that had me hack out the outer sleeve where the fraying was and cut that section out then bought some aircraft cable and joined them. So far so good but would prefer a cable that is not spiced together. I know there are 2 types based on the engine number and mine is a 5 speed and auto's are different I was told. Let me know if yours will work.? Thanks for the offer.

Sounds good but I see your in Maryland in US I am in Canada it could be kinda difficult to buy from afar. What are you wanting for it? I would have to see also about the shipping costs, etc.

I think mine is about 34 1/2" long total and has a circular rubber plug to attach to the IP then a smaller plastic square plug to the fire wall then a couple of metal grommets and a small spring with a plastic plug at the pedal. Sound right?

The way these cables seem to be getting harder to find it seems like it might be a wise idea to buy an extra while you still can.
It's one of the few parts on these engines that might be hard to make yourself or use parts from another application.
This back order deal has been going on for at least three years and will probably just get worse.
They're back ordered here too but the price is right and they say they'll send it out as soon as they get some in> http://allmoparparts.com/oemparts.ph.../CANZ9700.html

sorry for the late response. i have been working like crazy! to be honest i really dont want to sell the cable. i was offering it up to you to use incase your truck was a daily driver. that way you could get your truck back on the road. i know what it is like to need your truck but you cant drive it. and if you needed it you could just send me your new one when you get it. just trying to help you out thats all.

Thanks Infidel for the link; however, there a 2 types of cables based on engine # as well as auto/std. I have yet to even order one it appears as the dealer has lost it. Why I am not surprised I don't know and they want $133.00 I will be looking around as I did hack it back together "temporarily" was kinda pia to do but...

Esgdakota No problem you should keep yours for a spare.
I will find one I am sure but will be "kinda" pricey locally.

Cheers.

I think the new improved cables are all the same auto or manual, what's different is the bell crank that the cable connects to.
The old recall cables were different for auto and manuals, that's why the recall kit came with a different bell crank.
