some questions on cyl head porting / best places to buy
I put my truck in the shop for a pump rebuild last month and once the shop got it back on they found a couple cold cylinders and tracked it down to a bad cam. Now hes got the replacement cam/lifters/pushrods in there its binding up when he bars the motor over. Still waiting to hear back, but im assuming the worst.
Im assuming a couple valves got mangled since they werent opening enough and then overheated and bent.
So if thats the case (and its not a simple error like mis-timed cam) Im probably going to upgrade it while im in there, and just swap out the head with a ported one.
Anyone know a good place to get a loaded cylinder head with porting done?
Im looking to put twins on this truck, end up at 650hp or so.
from what I can find porting doesnt move the power around like it would on a gasser. Im guessing you just get more volume of air with less resistance (boost) and better spool? Does this allow you to add more fuel at lower RPMs? Anything I need to know to make this play well with my cam and other mods?
