I was just wondering how to get my truck to smoke alot other than injectors. I took my fuel plate out and it smokes but i want more. I would like to do it for free if i could. I have a 12 valve 1996 motor. thanks.

$$$ to burn

Smoke means wasted fuel. Dump some used motor oil in there and it'll start smoking. Don't get too carried away; gives us all a bad name. cd

I suspect that the AFC is what is limiting you. I really hesitate to tell you that because you shouldn't be intentionally blowing smoke just for that purpose. Diesels have a reputation as smoky, noisy, and smelly which we need to break in order for them to become accepted. Also, it is incredibly expensive for you to blow smoke because it requires lots of fuel and tends to lead to very high egt's. For the kids with asthma on your street, tune your truck so that it is powerful and runs well not so that it blows tons of smoke but doesn't have much useable power.

Move the AFC housing all the way forward. Manual or Auto? If it's an auto I'd say try to hook up a lockup switch but that year was when the Electronic trannies started and I don't know if you can put a lockup switch on it.

And and **** all the people who tell you intentionally blowing smoke is bad!

You'd have to dump A LOT of motor oil in the tank to get much black smoke... I think you'd be surprised how little it will smoke with a lot of oil in the diesel

crank up you smoke screw - and start wasting $$$..

If you block off the air cleaner with a plastic bag or cardboard and you can make it smoke like crazy.
What you're after is unburnt fuel- no air = no burn.

smoke it up if you want nobody can stop you. it's just like hunting, fishing, jeeping, people do bad things that ruin it for people who don't and all we can do is educate. scolding makes it worse imho.

Drain all the fluids out of your motor and start driving. You'll be amazed at how much your engine will start smoking!
