silencer ring?

what is the primary function of the silencer ring and why do poeple remove it

Exactly what it sounds like it would do, reduce turbo noise, the only reason to remove it is to make the turbo more audiable. No performance reason to remove it, or leave it in...

turbos with very small turbine housings will benefit from removal of the ring as it allows the MWE slot to do its job better

I believe Holset calls it an "inlet baffle", and I believe it slightly increases compressor efficiency by creating more laminar flow. I used to think it was just to reduce noise on Dodge trucks, but I've seen it now in other Holset applications.



Of course, I still don't run a silencer ring because I love the noise

I removed mine the day after I got my truck, a month later and i just put in the BHAF....

all I can say is WOW

If you like the noise, no ring is the way to go!
