whiteknight:

I have a 96' 12 valve which is "modified" pretty good
and just purchased a 2002 24 valve. My son also has
a 2001 24valve which is close to 500 H.P. I have to
tell you that I love my old 96' which has almost
185,000 miles on it now. It has NEVER left me
"stranded" and I have had very few problems with
the truck. The P7100 pump is TOUGH and is ccoled
by oil and fuel instead of just fuel on the VP-44.

Prior to him getting his 24 valve, I was a little
"skeptical" like you about the "durability" of the 24
valve (VP-44, lift pumps etc.) as I had heard and
seen first hand all the failures people were having
with the lift pumps and VP-44 fuel pumps.

However, this past year "Jetpilot" recommended the
new Product Engineering PE 4300 Fuel "Pusher" Pump
to my son for his 2001. "Jetpilot" was running one on
his 2001 and running it hard!!! He is "heavily" modified
and is putting out over 700 H.P. at the rear wheels
with nitrous and propane!! He also dynos, drag races
and generally "runs the truck hard" on a regular basis!
He has had no problems with his fuel system at all!!
My son just installed that pump on his 2001 and that
"pusher" pump keeps his F.P. at a "constant" 16 psi
even at WOT!!! My point in all this "rambling??" ;D
I think with the addition of a good "pusher" fuel pump
that the 24 valve truck can be as reliable as the 12
valves.

Anyway, good luck in your decision!

--------
John_P

drawson:

Heh buddy, Happy New Year to you and your family!

Yeah, I did buy a 2002, BUT, I still have the old 96' and
have NO PLANS to EVER get rid of it!!!
As you know,
these 12 valves are very, very reliable and the pumps are
TOUGH!! The dealership that I bought the 2002 from
wouldn't give me anything on trade-in anyway! I really
do like the way my son's 2001 runs though!! His truck
will pull me off the line but I still have more "top end"
speed than he does!! ;D

So, don't worry, I still have the 96'!!! You take care!

-------
John_P
