sell 24v for 12v?

tired of replacing lift pumps, 3 in the last 7 months. I found a 97 3500 dually 4x4 with 243,000 miles 5 speed. Looks clean. What do you guys think? Buy it and bomb it, or leave it alone? Forgot to say, he wants $9800.

Why dont you just put a mechanic lift pump to your 24valver?

I'm on the fence as you are about selling my 24v. Several members have reported a clogged pickup filter leading to the premature demise of their lift pumps. I've never had much in the way of lift pump problems but you might check this out before you make the move. They were discounting the '98 12v's when I bought mine, but I bought into the hype of electronic heaven.

If I don't sell the truck I am going to put a Holley blue on it. I think I'm just a little gun shy now. About 3 weeks after I bought the truck I lost the vp-44. Truck didn't have a fp gauge in it, and at the time I was an uneducated buyer. $1500 later plus the money for the fp gauge I am a little nervous. I had a 91 cummins and sold it with 240,000 miles on it. Never any serious problems.

Yeah my trucks pissing me off too.... 1200-2000 bucks is WAY too much to be spending on an injection pump that goes out as much as they seem to do.... anyway good luck on your decicion!

Well either way you can't go wrong with a 12V.....great motors, they just lack some of the "new" stuff that the 24V's have. Knock on wood I haven't had any lift pump or IP problems, but I'm sure I'd be in the same boat as you if that was happening.

But as stated above, have you checked into a new cam and a mechanical lift pump for your 24V?? Really in all reality not that expensive, and you'll be able to keep your truck. Those mechanical pumps last FOREVER!!

I haven't really looked at the cam type, I did look at the RASP. It looks like a very simple idea. I didn't look at it very closely because I haven't seen anyone listing one in their sig. Dosen't seem like anyone is using a mechanical type

Their are some guys using them....it just cost a few bucks to do it!!! A lot more than a RASP or FASS but I can guarantee you'll never have pump issues AGAIN!!!

And way cheaper than buying a different truck!!!
