searching for an nv-4500

okay guys, I am looking for an nv-4500 for my truck (doing a swap from automatic) and it seems to be that there is a very short supply of these transmissions here in ontario, except for in the older chevrolets,gm's, and v-8 dodges.

my question is: does anybody know if there is any particular year in which the GM nv-4500 had the same input & output shafts, spline count and transfer-case bolt pattern as the dodge nv-4500?? or if I can disassemble the transmission and install the dodge input and outut shafts??

same goes for the nv4500's found in the dodge trucks with the 5.9 gas v-8.
can they be made to work?? because ther's plenty of these transmissions around, just none specificaly for the cummins application.

Have you spoke with Heath at Hot Rod Diesel? He may have a trans. or know where to get one.

Whereabouts in Ontario are you?

I ended up buying a 2wd dodge nv-4500. I had to change the mainshaft in the tranny and rear housing to convert it to 4wd.

I have an NV4500 you can have. All you have to do is trade me a NV5600 for it...

well, frmll300, I havent been to hotrod diesel, are they in ontario?? I'm around barrie ways, so diesel speed parts etc... are expensive and somtimes hard to get.

I am thinking I am going to have to buy a 2x4 transmission and then convert it to 4x4. I know where I can find an nv4500 from a bus, it also had a 12 valve in it, so that may work. how was it changing out the mainshaft and rear housing?? because like I said earlier I am probably going to have to go this route.

You can go to "car-part.com" and follow instructions. Find them, warranty info, by distance from you and/or prices.
